Holy Chic! DIY T-Shirt Tutorial
While fumbling through online photos of sequin skirts for styling my own sparkly skirt (check back for that post), I saw a fabulous shirt that read “HOLY CHIC” and thought “voila! that’s perfect!” So I went to look up where this top could be purchased and it was a whopping $228.67 at Asos.
So then I looked into diy blogs and stumbled upon a few. Here are the links:
I decided to take inspiration from both of these bloggers and do something a little different. Here’s a picture of inspiration:
I decided to print out letters and trace them onto the grey t-shirt that I purchased from the American Apparel Factory Store for $15.
I purchased glass beads from Michael’s. I think microbeads could also work if you have a stash of them around.
I also purchased Aleene’s fabric glue from Michael’s to glue the beads onto the shirt. If you’re patient and want to hand sew the beads, be my guest!
Basically what I did was:
1. Trace the letters onto the t-shirt using a good Sharpie.
3. Apply a semi-thin layer of glue to the letters. The glue is quite thick so work quickly and carefully
4. Sprinkle the beads evenly over the glue and let sit overnight until it dries completely.
5. Rock out in a chic way!
